6. Absences: a. Please give me at lease one week advanced notice, in writing, if you know that your child will be absent for multiple days. I will put together work to be done at home. b. If your child will be absent for five or more consecutive days, we will need to complete the paperwork for an Independent Study (ask Donna in the main office). c. Please send a note to explain daily absences. Go to the office first for late arrivals and early pick-ups. 7. Contact Information: a. Please let me know if you change your phone number or e-mail address at any point during the year. 8. Health: a. All medications must be kept in the office with a note from a doctor. b. Please remind your child to sneeze into his/her elbow, to use Kleenex to cover his/her mouth when coughing, and to wash his/her hands before eating. This will help reduce the spread of germs. c. Our classroom is a peanut free and tree nut free zone. Therefore, no food is allowed in the classroom. Folder will be sent home every Wednesday and need to be returned every Thursday . b. Folders will contain corrected work and important information from me/the office. c. Every Friday I will send home a "Friday Newsletter" that needs to be read, signed, and returned Monday. 11. Friendly Reminders / Discipline Slips (Pink Slips): a. If a Friendly Reminder is not returned, signed, the next day of school then it becomes a discipline slip (a ‘pink slip’). b. When students receive a discipline slip they lose some of the 100 points that they started with at the beginning of the year. If a student loses more than 49 points by the end of the year, then he/she will not e allowed to participate in the fun activities that happen at the end of the year. 12. Classroom Rewards: a. Awesome Bucks - This is our classroom currency. This fake money is earned through on task behavior, completion of classroom jobs, and acts of kindness. Students can buy small items and certain privileges. b. Our classroom marble jar – The class earns (or loses) marbles based on behavior, the reward will be the privilege of watching a movie in class, when the jar is filled. c. Bobcat Bucks – Every month there is a drawing and a prize from the principal! 13. Bathroom / Water Bottles: a. Students are encouraged to use the bathroom before school, during morning recess, and during lunch. b. We do have a water fountain in the classroom. Your child is also welcome to keep one water bottle on his/her desk. Pleas write your child’s name on the water bottle. 14. (With advanced notice) b. We celebrate birthdays at the end of the day. c.
